  3. VIDEO SCREEN SAVER -- DEMO VERSION 
  4. ------------------

  6. INTRODUCTION 
  7. Your Great Moments of Discovery Video Screen Saver  
  8. will play full-screen video clips from your CD-ROM  
  9. drive, or your hard drive.  You can choose from three different  
  10. video clips.  As long as this screen saver is the one selected  
  11. on your Windows Desktop, it will continuously play the  
  12. video clips that you have selected.   
  13.  
  14. INSTALLATION 
  15. Once you install the program, it will exist on your hard  
  16. drive as Discovery Video Screen Saver. You can find it  
  17. in the Discovery Multimedia group.  Installing the  
  18. program will automatically select it as your screen  
  19. saver.  Unless you change the setting through the  
  20. Windows Control Panel-Desktop, the Discover Video  
  21. Screen Saver will begin playing video after your  
  22. keyboard is inactive for five minutes.

  24. When the program is installed, you will have the option  
  25. to install the latest Video for Windows drivers on your  
  26. hard drive.  One video clip will be automatically copied  
  27. to your hard drive, and will take up about three  
  28. megabytes.  Should you wish to delete it later to save  
  29. space, look for Discovry.avi.  A sound card is required  
  30. for your computer to process the music and sound  
  31. effects on this screen saver.  If you don't have a sound  
  32. card, the video clips will still play.   
  33.  
  34. ARRANGING THE SEQUENCE 
  35. After viewing the clips, selecting your favorites, and  
  36. adding them to the screen saver, you can arrange them  
  37. to play in any order you want.  On the main menu, the  
  38. top video clip is the one that plays first, and so on down  
  39. the list.  To move a clip, highlight it by clicking on it,  
  40. then use the up or down cursor arrows on your keyboard  
  41. to move that clip.  The up arrow moves the highlighted  
  42. clip up one position, and the down arrow moves the  
  43. highlighted clip down one position.       
  44.      
  45. THE MAIN MENU 
  46. When you install the screen saver, it will create an 
  47. icon in the Discovery Multimedia group.  Clicking 
  48. on this icon will launch the Screensaver and take  
  49. you to its Main Menu.  The buttons on the Main  
  50. Menu are explained below.   
  51.      
  52. ADD 
  53. For your screen saver to play video clips, you must first  
  54. load clips into it. The Add button allows you to select the  
  55. video clips your screen saver will play. The Add button  
  56. does NOT add any clips to your hard drive.  To copy clips 
  57. to your hard drive, you must run the demo setup program, 
  58. choose install screensaver, and select the clips you wish to 
  59. copy.  When you click on the button, a window will pop 
  60. up.  Then scroll through the list on the left, and click on the 
  61. clip you wish to load or preview.  Click on OK, and the clip 
  62. is now selected and ready to play.  If you have not seen the 
  63. clip before or do not remember it, you can view it before 
  64. deciding whether to include it in your playlist of selected 
  65. clips by simply clicking on the Preview button.  
  66.      
  67. PREVIEW 
  68. This button will allow you to see a video clip to decide if  
  69. it is one you would like to include in your list.  After  
  70. selecting a clip using the Add button, you'll be back in  
  71. the main menu.  To preview the clip, simply highlight it  
  72. by clicking on it, then click the Preview button.  The clip  
  73. will play full-screen and then you'll return to the main  
  74. menu. If you want to select that clip to play as part of  
  75. your customized sequence, it is ready.  If you want to  
  76. delete that clip, use the Remove button to delete the  
  77. highlighted clip from your list.         
  78.  
  79. REMOVE     
  80. To delete a clip from the list of selected video clips, click  
  81. on the one you wish to delete, then click on the Remove  
  82. button.       
  83.      
  84. PLAY ALL     
  85. When you have previewed and decided which clips you  
  86. would like your screen saver to play, you can see what  
  87. they will look like in sequence by clicking on the Play All  
  88. button.  This button duplicates what you will see when  
  89. your keyboard is inactive for a period of time, and the  
  90. screen saver begins playing video clips.   To exit while  
  91. the Play All button is playing the selected clips in  
  92. sequence, push your left mouse button, or the escape  
  93. key, and you will return to the main menu.   
  94.      
  95. PASSWORD 
  96. To keep others from using your computer while you are  
  97. away, you can select a password by clicking on the  
  98. Password button.  Then click on the small box at the top  
  99. of the password screen, and type your password.  Re- 
  100. type it to confirm it.  If you should forget your password,  
  101. you will need to re-boot your computer and re-install the  
  102. screen saver.       
  103.      
  104. SOUND 
  105. To hear either sound effects or musical pieces while  
  106. your screen saver plays video clips, click on either the  
  107. On or Off button by the small speaker icon.  If you  
  108. choose Off, you will hear no sound while the clips play.   
  109. On allows you to hear either sound effects or music,  
  110. depending on which type of clip is selected.   
  111.      
  112. EXIT 
  113. After you have finished setting up your screen saver,  
  114. exit the program by clicking on the Exit button.  To save  
  115. your selected clips and sound preference, click on the  
  116. Yes button.  No will not save your settings and you will  
  117. have to set up your screen saver again.
